KARMA: TREE
 
Will sometime in some other time
from some seed once again
this tree be raised
that blossoms very spring
within reach of my window
and will it then recall
those who kiss
beneath it now
in the serene shade
the profound kiss frames
that then sets
falls heavy
on their heards:
Will its leaves recall
their sighs
and will they tremble
from them and from the breeze
beneath the stars od some century to come?

SLAVS. SHRICK
 
From the moors of the Carpathians
that roll,
roar through dence groves and gorges
thundering southwards
to the shore of the warm sea.
 
Here and there some
Doric, Cretan of Ionian column
supports it.
 
Afterwards it’s tamed
encircled in dome and arches,
that wild speech
that glitters with Byzantine gilt
and becomes wine
in the Creator’s glass

Eftim Kletnikov (1946) – poet, essay writer, critic, translator. He has authored and edited over twenty books of poetry, essays and criticism, and has made significant translations of poetry into Macedonian (Pushkin, Lermontov, Rassin, Valeriy). His poetry has been translated into several languages. He has compiled several anthologies of Macedonian poetry. Efim Kletnikov is a recipient of the most important awards for poetry in Macedonia. He served as the Managing Director of the Struga Poetry Evenings Festival.
