Poems by Omar Castillo

En el tiempo

Detener los ojos
En el agua que cae
Penetrando
La intimidad del desierto
Tocado por la luz
Del sol que nos inunda

En ese instante aprehender
En un poema
El suceder donde prenden
En los silencios
Y en las palabras
Los alientos de la vida

In time

Detaining the eyes
In the water that falls
Penetrating
The desert’s intimacy
Touched by the light
Of the sun that floods us

In that instant apprehend
In a poem
The occurrence where are lit
In the silences
And in the words
The breaths of life

Cicatrices del universo

A la orilla de este árbol
Espero el silencio del tiempo

El libidinoso olvido
Cuando el tiempo se vuelva de revés

Tras el eco de su vacío inicial

The universe’s scars

At the edge of this tree
I await the silence of time

Lusty forgetfulness
When time turns back

Following the echo of its initial vacuum

Translated by G. Leogena
