Blue It Was... Such a summer it was as if we lived in the sky
To kiss you was like kissing the sky it was something blue
Youth is just such a summer no dorm no home no room the sky alone enough for anyone
You and I we lived so much in the sky our youth blue it was...so very blue!
Translated by Nilgün Dungan and Mel Kenne from An Anthology of Love Poems(2011)
Mother
was I truly born of you mother as roads, rivers, early noon stood by would a child be born of a human
if your heart were made of stone, mother, could it still endure if it were a bird or a flower or daylight wouldn’t a sprig of violet snap at the stem in pain
let the mountains give birth to me this time mother and you be the warm rain falling ceaselessly on my bleeding wounds
