Poems by Yasuhiro Yotsumoto

10 Tanka of Corona Moon

A particle of word on the surface of the doorknob.
You came in. You touched my silence with that hand.

*

Being deadly alive.
I the virus it will be sunny then cloudy with some annihilation.

*

My giant panda and your king penguin
dancing waltz on the pedestrian crossing, as we pass each other
casually holding our breath.

*

Used surgical masks on the streets all over the town.
What makes me want to bend down, pick up and press them to my mouth, Love?

*

So, it’s just another petal of moment that gets you infected.
Watching the hydrangea from the top of its piles.

*

They say that the Chinese character for cloud 雲 includes a fragment of soul 魂.
The sky is filled with the clouds today.

*

Looking at the rain makes you feel like the core of your body melts away
I’mstillhereI’mstillhereI’mstill......
leaving behind just the sound of the rain.

*

No more counting, please. Death is the one and only Klein bottle.

*

Cobblestones, honeycomb, nebula.
It oozes out through the cracks of the thronging masses.

*

“Saving lives precedes anything else”
Is it so? The portrait photo of Shiro our late dog
gathering dusts.

Kumano
(excerpts)

enter into a mountain

then
the mountain
enters
into me

*

a rock
bears the lightness
of the sky

the sky
bears the hardness
of a rock

fluttering
wings

*

beads of sweat
on the temple
dew
on the tips of the leaves

capsuled in a droplet
is this spring

*

fingertips
on the moss

eyes shut

woods
awaken

*

I
walk on the road

watching
my back

*

the ridge
is a woman
lying down

soft skin
of the country
caressed with eyes

*

a cuckoo
totteringly tells
the time is
now

a ripple spreads in the sky

*
                                 at Shingu
mountains
and clouds
mixed
into the sea

a boat
receding away

what
a deep
surface!

*

draw
in the air

a circle
without
an end

in it
a leaf
floating
